About Us

Wailua’s Community Market

Located “upcountry” in Wailua Homesteads on Kauai’s East side, the Wailua Country Store was purchased and lovingly renovated and revitalized in 2023 by Naomi Nicholson and her dedicated team and family.  Driven by a commitment to provide value for the community, Naomi and her team have created a charming  gathering place that feels like “home”, where you can visit with friends and neighbors, buy locally produced food and gifts, and pick up some ice and refreshments after a long day at work.

Job Opportunities

Our mission and intention is to support a thriving community by providing value and convenience on Kauai’s East side.  It takes a large team of dedicated staff to manage and operate our tiny country store. The Wailua Country Store offers first-time job opportunities for youth, building confidence, teaching valuable life skills and fostering team work.

Customer Loyalty Program

It pays to shop at Wailua Country Store!  Our customer loyalty program provides  discounts based on the amount spent at the store. Our Point of Sale system keeps track of purchases by way of customers’ phone numbers and presents 15% discounts and $5 off rewards at checkout.  Be sure to enter your phone number at checkout to get your points and rewards!

Book Share & Bulletin Board

Explore our Book Share cabinet outside the store where you can leave a book or discover a new one. Don’t forget to check out our community bulletin board, an excellent resource for sharing details about local events, garage sales, lost pet notices, and various services. We also provide a seasonal photo display for holiday family photos in November.

Wailua Country Store History

Established in 1995

The Wailua Country Store was established in 1995 with ties to local meat production from the generational ranching operation started in the 1930’s by Manuel Sanchez. Originally the Wailua Country Store was focused on traditional convenience products and the sale of meat grown and produced less than a mile from the store. Today, the Wailua Country Store has evolved into a charming community hub for local finds, coffee, fresh baked bread, sweets, gifts, sundry, beverages, and delicious Grab ‘n Go meals. In keeping with the Store’s legacy, we sell a variety of grass-fed beef products from local rancher and meat producer, Wailua Meat, owned by William Sanchez.
